Well another round completed, one more to go before the end of the 2016 season. There was a mixed bag of emotions throughout the night, some engine blow ups, chains breaking, some crazy driving and some really good clean close racing. A few comments from different group drivers that the track was not up to speed as it normally has been in the past. A total of 67 entries for the night, it was great to see a few novice drivers racing for the 1st time, some did exceptionally well, starting at rear of field and finishing in the top 7 each round. A top effort from our 2 little rookies for the night. Another great effort by “Flipper” and family (canteen crew )who sold out of food before the of night. The junior drivers transformed into a little choir and assembled outside the canteen to sing “Happy Birthday” to Angela (Secretary). Then came the “true” sportsmanship towards the middle of the night. How good is it when you see drivers from the one pit area offer drivers from another pit area their karts to drive, to allow them to continue racing and stay in contention for championship points. The guys in Group 4 and 5 were overwhelmed when 2 or 3 of them thought their racing was over for the night, until a couple of members from a different pit area offered them their kart to continue racing. How good is that! A great battle in the Modified racing with the return of Kart “V8” – Peter Herriman and Kart “32” – Brandon Kiehne in single engines giving the twins a great run during the night. Thank you to Kristy Wilson who controlled the Timing for the night so Steve could spend the night pitting for his son, Josh (1st time this season, he has had the opportunity to spend with Josh as pit crew ), thank you to everyone who helped set up and assisted with the running the night. To the people that helped flag marshall throughout the night, thank you for your time and efforts. Welcome to the new members, the spectators and all the pit crews that turn up to support the club and their drivers. Next event will be the Test and Tune, held on Saturday 15th October. See “Events” page for details.
